Wealth luck

How to visit a wealth-luck shrine|Temizuya, wording, then Water Omikuji

Morning light on a shrine hand-washing pavilion (temizuya)

Shrines known for money luck exist across Japan, yet careless etiquette can blunt the blessing. Cleansing at the temizuya comes first.

Temizuya in four simple steps

  • Draw water; rinse the left hand, then the right
  • Pool water in the left palm and rinse the mouth (don’t swallow or spit on the ground)
  • Rinse the left hand once more
  • Clean the ladle handle toward yourself and set it back

Coins and how to phrase a wish

Favor a concrete, humble ask—“income that matches my work”—over “make me rich.” Many choose a 5-yen coin (go-en, a good bond) or 15 yen.

After the visit, draw Water Omikuji to notice how your money mood has shifted.
